In my mind there is no doubt that home-made beats shop bought any time, no matter how “good” the shop bought may be… The flavours you get when you cook food at home cannot be in any shape or form reproduced in a factory….for me this is FACT!!
So under this bold statement I want to show you how to make my Pancetta & Cheese “Flower” Party Pastries… yes they do have quite a long name…
I make these whether I’m catering for a kids party, family reunion, friends gathering, birthday or any kind of event that needs food… They do have a little bit of work, but hey, it’s worth it!!
In this post I’m making these pastries with Calabrian Round Pancetta and Cheddar cheese but you can also use other fillings of your choice.
PRINT THE RECIPE

Easy, delicious and beautiful puff pastry finger food perfect as part of any party food. With Italian Pancetta and cheese these pastries are to die for!
- 500 gr of pre bought Puff Pastry
- 150 gr Calabrian Rund Cured Pancetta
- 150 gr of Medium Cheedar cheese grated
- 1 Free range egg
-
Using a rolling pin roll out the puff pastry until is about 4mm thick
-
With a pizza cutter cut the pastry in 7x7cm squares
-
With a sharp knife make a cut in all 4 corners of the square (see video below for in detail guide)
-
Place 1 or 2 slices of the round pancetta and some of the grated cheese in the middle of the square
-
Take all the 4 corners of the square and stick them together in the middle as to create a "flower" effect (please see video for in detail guide)
-
Place all the pastries in a baking tray previously lined with some parchment paper or oven grease paper
-
Place the baking tray in a preheated oven at 200 degrees C for 20 minutes or until golden brown. Note that sometimes the top layer may get unattached.

Other filling options
I have always done these pastries using the Calabrian Round Pancetta and Cheddar cheese, but I these will also go well using Italian Prosciutto, Tomato and Mozzarella cheese, grilled vegetables and onions with some sun dried tomatoes or even with some ground sausage meat in the middle. The options are limited to your imagination!
But if you would like to make them with the same ingredients I did , here is where I got the Calabrian Round Pancetta at £3.50 per 100gr. The Cheddar cheese I got from Tesco.
