Delicious Gnocchi, traditional Italian tomato sauce, Mozzarella cheese Parmigiano cheese and fresh Basil, a dish that waves right high the Italian flag!
I think this recipe is one of my favourites when it comes to Italian food. It has all the flavours of Southern Italian cooking but without the hassle of long and winding preparations. And for a mid-week meal I use already made Gnocchi, how easy is that?!
The recipe only uses a handful of ingredients that for the flavour payout is quite amazing how good it is.
PRINT THE RECIPE
- 1 Kg of Gnocchi
- 2 Mozzarella cheese
- 400 ml of Tomato Passata
- Fresh Basil
- 2 Garlic cloves
- Black pepper
- Grated Parmigiano cheese to taste 200gr approx
Chop the Mozzarella in bite size pieces
Cook the Gnocchi as per packet instructions. Once the Gnocchi come to float they are ready
In a baking tray place a layer of tomato sauce, then a layer of Gnocchi, a layer of Mozzarella a few basil leaves and some grated Parmigiano.
Continue to build the layers until finishing with a layer of tomato sauce, Mozzarella and grated Parmigiano cheese.
Once all the layers are done bake in a preheated oven at 200/220 degrees C for 30 minutes, or until the tops is melted and goldenly delicious.
