How to Make Gnocchi alla Sorrentina Recipe

One of the easiest and delicious Italian recipes out there and so easy to make is unbelievable. This recipe has all the flavours of Italy in a delicious super rich Gnocchi bake. Melted Mozzarella and Parmigiano cheese, tomato sauce and soft Gnocchi, all in one pot. This is the perfect mid-week one pot meal and good to wallet too!

  • 1 Kg of Gnocchi
  • 2 Mozzarella cheese
  • 400 ml of Tomato Passata
  • Fresh Basil
  • 2 Garlic cloves
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Grated Parmigiano cheese to taste 200gr approx


  1. Chop the Mozzarella in bite size pieces
  2. Cook the Gnocchi as per packet instructions. Once the Gnocchi come to float they are ready
  3. In a baking tray place a layer of tomato sauce, then a layer of Gnocchi, a layer of Mozzarella a few basil leaves and some grated Parmigiano.
  4. Continue to build the layers until finishing with a layer of tomato sauce, Mozzarella and grated Parmigiano cheese.
  5. Once all the layers are done bake in a preheated oven at 200/220 degrees C for 30 minutes, or until the tops is melted and goldenly delicious.
