Back at home coconuts are like in the UK apples or pears. They are part of our cuisine and daily life like mangos or pineapples.
Coconuts are so everyday life that even in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, you find Coconut shacks serving thousands and thousands of coconut smoothies to all sorts of people. In fact, like in Italy with their coffee break, in Venezuela you often have a coconut break, where you go to get a coconut smoothie.
I remember when I was little my parents had to take me to get a smoothie after school at least 2 or 3 times a week… I was addicted to it!! But how can you not… is creamy, fresh, healthy and really good…
So here is my Coconut Smoothie Recipe made with already made coconut milk . Of course, if you can make it with fresh coconut water and meat all the better, but realistically the chances of finding good fresh coconut in Europe are not that many…
PRINT THE RECIPE

- 400 ml Coconut milk
- 1/4 Cup dried grated coconut or coconut flakes
- 4 Tbsp sugar add more if you like it sweeter
- A splash of milk
- 1 Cup of ice add more if you like

In a blender or food processor add the coconut milk, sugar and splash of milk and blend

Then add the ice cube by cube and blend

Add the 1/4 cup of grated coconut or coconut flakes and blend for a few seconds.

Serve immediately

Topped the glasses with some sprinkled cinnamon or drizzle some condensed milk for extra richness.
